Prayer Study Work Day to be re-scheduled There has been a scheduling kerfluffle, the result of which is that a Cursillo Team Formation meeting will be held at St. Edmund's on Saturday, May 19, and the Prayer Study Work Day will be re-scheduled to a Saturday in June. Stay tuned for updates.

Take-Home-a-Lily Week This little known holiday began last Sunday and continues until all the Easter lilies have been adopted. The plants grow well in Pacifica and require little maintenance (other than being planted in the ground). Katherine says they go nicely in groupings of three.

Sunday School Meeting A meeting to consider the current format of our Sunday School program is scheduled for Wednesday, May 30th at 7 p.m. here at the church. Those interested in helping discern the most constructive way to provide a weekly formation experience for our kids are invited to attend.

Considering Our Logo . . . Those who attended the conversations about our logo learned that our logo is not for us; it's for those who do not yet know us. It's also one of the ways we convey something of our values and priorities. Because a logo usually includes a graphic image, it communicates in an entirely different way than words. What elements belong in our graphic image? If we included a few words (no more than 10), what would words would you suggest?

Opening and Closing for CJC The Coastside Jewish Community is interested in hiring someone to open and close St. Edmund's and Holy Family on the Friday evenings and one Saturday a month they meet in the church.

They are interested in hiring someone from their own, St. Edmund's or Holy Family's community. Here is a portion of the information CJC sent: ". . . any potential person doing this would go through a background check, at our expense. They would have custody of the key, or at least access to it, and be briefed in all opening/closing procedures, as well as any necessary security/insurance or protocol protocols that the church has.

"We anticipate using the paid person to do opening and closing for all Friday and Saturday services. As you know, this would involve arriving around 6:30 p.m. on Friday night, covering up the Episcopal religious items, taking our stuff out of storage, setting it up, and setting up the sound system. Once services start, no need to hang around, but welcome to. Would need to return around 9:15 or 9:30 p.m., and put everything away, and return the sanctuary to its pre-Jewish condition. Basically the same deal for Saturday (at HMB location), arriving 30 minutes before services commence, and then showing up again at the end of services to put everything away.

"We would be looking for somebody to do this as a long term commitment, ideally. We would like to be able to institute this was the beginning of the new fiscal year July 1."

Any one interested in further information or being considered for the position should contact Dave Schorr, CJC's Treasurer (726-2842; davetreas@gmail.com)

Money Matters The deposit last week was $1288. Our annual audit is scheduled for Tuesday, May 15th. Copies of the 2012 budget are available on the coffee hour table. If you have questions about the budget, please speak to the vicar or any member of the Bishop's Committee.

From the Pacifica Resource Center: Help for those facing homelessness The Resource Center provides one-time and short-term rental assistance for low-income folks who are facing homelessness for lack of rent money. Applicants must have been renting in Pacifica (at least 30 days) and be able to provide valid ID, a copy of their lease and other qualifying paperwork. More information is available from the Resource Center, 650-738-7470.

The Produce Mobile Like a farmers' market, but free to low-income Pacificans. 6 to 10 different fresh fruits and vegetables are available the 2nd Monday of each month at the Community Center from 1 to 2 p.m. and at Pacifica Baptist Church from 3 to 4 p.m. Photo ID, proof of Pacifica residency, and verification of current household income are required. Registration is available on site or at the Resource Center.

We pray for Justin, Katy, Nathan, Jesse, Mary, Joel, Carol, Nick, Jennifer, Matthew, Douglas, Jonathan and all others currently serving in their country's armed forces. We pray for young adults who see enlisting in the military as their only viable economic option.

We pray for an end to hostilities that result in countries calling their young men and women to enroll in the military.

Thanksgivings: For Evelyn's prosthesis

We pray for those who have died: Irving; Brenda; Fred; Jerrod; Douglas; Mary-Marguerite; Bob; Sherry
